Summer Camps

The High Ground | 9th Grade - 2021 Graduates | June 20 - 24, 2021

The High Ground is our wilderness camp session for students who will be in any grade of high school in the fall or just graduated in this spring. Campers sleep in hammocks in specially-built shelters in the woods, prepare two of their daily meals on the campfire, and enjoy many of the camp activities such as the giant slip and slide, the swimming pool, canoeing, volleyball, Glow-in-the-Dark Ultimate Frisbee, Archery Tag, and a mud run.

Despite the rather rustic setting, campers still do shower every day, have modern restrooms at the pool house, and eat one meal daily in our dining hall.

Note: This camp session has filled to capacity most years, so please don't wait to register. If you are registering on paper through your church, please make sure that the church submits the form immediately instead of holding it.

Camper check-in will be from 4:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, June 20. We will end on Thursday at 5:30 PM.

Mahoning Valley's 2021 summer camp theme is Focus, and we are spending the summer looking at setting our priorities in a way that honors God. Worship is more than just singing, and it's more than an hour on Sunday morning. True worship is a lifestyle of making God the most important part of our lives and setting our focus on honoring Him. Romans 12:1-2 says “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV) While it will look a little different for each age group, we will spend our teaching times this summer talking about what it means to be transformed by the renewing of our minds and what it means to focus our lives on worshipping Christ.

All camps sessions this summer will also be joined by Phil and Elizabeth Maddux from MMS Aviation. MMS Aviation prepares people and planes for worldwide missionary service by refurbishing, maintaining, and repairing small aircraft used in missions, and through an apprenticeship training program that covers both maintenance and pilot skills for future missionaries. You can read more about MMS Aviation and their work at www.mmsaviation.org.

Spencer Roberts of the Cadiz Christian Church and his brother Ethan Roberts will be serving as the co-Deans of Campers for this session.

The High Ground Camp is only $250 if you register by May 17 ($290 after that).
